I don't know about you all, but I'm getting sick of Ken Jennings on Jeperty. He has been on there for way way too long and he always wins. It's like he has a computer in his head that he just uses to lookup the answers. I bet now they regrit changing the 5 day winning rule last year. I watch Jeperty almost every night to root for him to lose. I can't wait until the day he does because it would be awesome. The person beeting him will have to be a lot smarter then he does.
Troy
I actually really enjoy watching Ken Jennings play on jeopardy. He seems like a really funny and personable guy, and he does play the game really well. I really don't think the show's producers regret making the rules change, to allow contestants to keep playing after five days. It's not like they're paying out anymore money, plus Jennings was a big boost to their ratings.
What if they lose that day? DO they lose all the money they won? Wheel of Fortune had a rule no more then 3 wins and you're done. Some game shows need to kinda bow out and let put new ones in. Like Pyramid. That was way back when I was a kid practically! I remember it being on air then dropping out. Now Donny Ozmond is host and god does the game need a better host.
I really like ken jennings as well. I know personally, I've definitely been watching it more now that he's been on. Almost every night in fact. I'm kind of curious to see how much money he will actually win in the end. And its not like he's arrogant, he really seems to enjoy the game. And according to ex jeopardy contestants, I've herad this personally, he's a very nice and personable guy.
Well, I kind of have to agree with TWell, I kind of have to agree with Troy on this one. He's been on there for a while now, and good personality or not, with the amount of money he's earned playing the game, he's so above nearly everyone else on there it would be almost impossible for anyone else to beat him, and in my oppinion, that's really unfair to everyone else.
Yes, I'm sure he's a nice guy and all, but enough is enough! I myself use to root for him, but it got old very quickly. And to answer blindvi's question, yes they do get to keep the money. I hear he's going to give it to charity.
Troy
Well, I don't watch the show, but I can see how the same person, however likable, winningo ver and over can be annoying. But what can you do? Nothing. just odn't watch it lol?
Caitlin
I would have to disagree with the assertion that it's not fair for Jennings to keep playing. I really don't understand why. If a championship chess player or championship boxer keep winning, why shouldn't they be considered the champ until either they are defeated or they choose to retire? They shouldn't, and neither should Ken Jennings. Surely there are people out there who could beat the man, so let them come and do it. According to Alex Trebeck at the beginning of one episode, there are lots of people just lined up to take Jennings on. What they could even do is bring back former tournament of champions winners to play him. That would be huge ratings wise.
That would be awesome! They could bring back former champions to go against him to see what happens.
Troy
Yeah then maybe Jennings would finally lose. I'm sorry but, i completely agree with Troy here. Its a big deal to be smart enough to get on that show in the first place, why bring all these people down by having an undefeated opponent like that? Personally I stopped watching the show after he won for the 5th day. Its totally sickening to me.
I agree with you troy. Everytime I open the newspaper and see his picture in the entertainment secton it makes me ill LOL It is getting a bit old now. He won great now lets move on and let someone else have a chance my goodness.
It's completely fair for him to keep winning, after all, it's his brains, his accomplishment, hiw thinking that got him there. But I can understand how it would be kind of depressing and boring if he kept winning over and over. The show might lose popularity and drive? Caitlin
Don't be upset just because your all dumb and he's not.
Lol who's upset?
first of all, life's not fair, get over it. second of all, he has the right to play until someone defeats him. why should they just make him stop playing? Like someone said, it's his brains, his accomplishments. if someone else is going to get in his place, they should earn that right.
There can be positive cheating as well as negative cheating. What you guys are thinking ken should do is cheat to let someone else win. If he's defeated by someone that's fine, but why should he cheat and let someone else win. They didn't really win honestly. That doesn't seem fare to me. No one complains when a sports teams wins the superbowl or the world series multiple years, sometimes in a row. How is this different?
I just find it interesting that with all the complaining thats been going on here about anagram cheating, that people are asking a jeopardy contestant to cheat. If he continues to win, why shouldn't he be allowed to continue to play. Until someone can beat him, then he should have the right to play honestly until he's either defeated, or he loses.
No one's saying he should cheat. But how do we even know this show isn't rigged, like every other game show is? This guy doesn't deserve to win all this money. And by the way, I do complain when the Yankees win the world series almost every year. Ok so they didnt make it this year and I'm glad because it's about fuckin time somebody else won. I hope that, by the10th week or so, people will get sick of seeing this guy hog up all the money. I hope the show loses tons of ratings, as if Alex Trebeck isn't enough of a turnoff himself.
if i'm not mistaken, the ratings have gone up since they've made it so the people can keep going. you're going to have to wait a long time if you want them to go back down, and, if you keep watching it, you're adding another good rating to it because your tv is tuned to that show.
Yes Acosha, the ratings for Jeopardy have indeed increased since the rules change a year ago. Furthermore, the ratings went up dramatically in June and July when Ken Jennings started his winning streak. Since then, they've leveled off a bit, but are still quite good. Infact, Jeopardy is still the number one cyndicated show on television. This is significant because since premiering in 1984, Jeopardy has always been behind Wheel of Fortune in the ratings, but now it's ahead for the first time.
As for the allegation that the show is fixed, this is simply not possible. Since the game show scandles of the 1950's, laws have been put in to place that govern how a game show must operate. There is no way the producers would wrisk breaking these laws, because it would mean not only the loss of Jeopardy, but Wheel of Fortune as well. These shows make way too much money to wrisk them on a ratings stunt. I would highly recommend everyone check out the movie Quiz Show to see what the game show scandles were all about. If there's enough interest, I could always stream the audio from it over shoutcast.
Finally, I just want to comment about one of the messages where the poster said that Jennings does not deserve to win all that money. I disagree here. The object of the game is to win the most money by answering the most questions. He has been answering the most questions, so logically he should win the money. And if he doesn't deserve to win, then I must ask, who does?
Wonder how this dude got all his smarts fromn? Caitlin
He did deserve to win....for the first week or 2. But I just dont think its fair to the other players to be continually frustrated by somebody who's repeatedly winning, and not even voluntarily stepping down. So he does not deserve to win that money, whether he plans to give it to charity or not. There's a thing called fairness, you know.
Nib, what are you talking about? Last time I checked fairness meant that the most tallented person wins in a competition. They spend years training for it or are naturally smarter than everyone else. If you can't enjoy your advantage the world would be a very sad place indeed. That guy is totally awesome and deserves every dollar he wins. No one is bringing his opponents down by having them lose, they're simply not smart enough. Even with things like the "World Series" in basketball (funny thing, there are usually 2 to 3 countries in the "world series") it's a lot more unfair because the biggest cities / teams can afford to buy the best players and so they actually have a bit of an unfair advantage in that respect. On Jeopardy it's simply a matter of who beats who in the brain department and that's the whole point of the show. Irritating or not I applaud this guy and hope he spends a lot of the money on a new house, a private jet and enjoys life to the fullest because he's earnt every penny of it and the only way he should get off the show is if someone sufficiently clever comes along and beats him fair and square.
cheers

Yes I agree with you that there is a thing called fairness. I would further agree that in any contest, fairness should be observed. Where I think we disagree is what exactly fairness means. The way I see it, is in order for a game to be fair, all players must have an equal chance to win. This is happening in the case of Jeopardy. At the beginning of each game, the score is set at zero, and any of the three contestants have just as much of a chance to win as the other two. Now some people make the arguement that Ken Jennings has an advantage because he has more buzzer experience, but I really don't see that as a factor. He started out with no experience playing the game on television, and still managed to win. So if he could do that, there's no reason why someone else couldn't do the same thing. I don't know if you're still watching or not, but that almost happened last night. Ken did really well in the Jeopardy round, but played probably the worst Double Jeopardy round I've ever seen him play. One of his apponents was very close to ending that round with a good deal more money then Ken had. The only thing that prevented that from happening was the guy wrisked everything on a daily double, and missed the question.
So I really don't think he's unbeatable. It's just going to take a really good player to do it. But that's only fair since Ken Jennings is a good player himself.
He has more experience because he writes trivia for a living
According to the contestant intro at the beginning of every episode, he's a software engineer. If he writes trivia as well, I've never heard. I'm curious where you got your information from. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I've never heard this in everything I've read about Ken Jennings.
Actually, my business ed. teacher told my class about it yesterday. But I dont care anymore, because he finally lost.
